hiBar ("we", "us") operates the hiBar application and the website hibarhistory.com. For any privacy question, write to contact@hibarhistory.com.
Account data — email address, name, and the registration details you provide (studies, workplace, birth date, country). Used to create and secure your account.
Profile data — anything you choose to add to your public profile (bio, profession, institution, languages, interests, avatar). Visible to other hiBar users.
Content — the projects, annotations, sources, votes and messages you create. Published content is, by design, visible to the community and attributed to you as its signer.
Technical data — basic logs needed to run and secure the service (IP, timestamps, device type). We do not run advertising trackers.
We use a small set of processors to run hiBar: Supabase (database, authentication and storage), Netlify (website hosting and forms), Resend (transactional email such as confirmation codes), Microsoft Azure (automatic translation of content) and IONOS (domain and mailbox). Each receives only what it needs to provide its service.
If you are in the EU/EEA you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, ask for a copy of it, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Email contact@hibarhistory.com and we will respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Account and profile data are kept while your account exists. If you delete your account, personal data is removed; published contributions may remain part of the shared record in de-identified or attributed form as required by the integrity of the community archive, unless you request their removal.
If you join the waiting list or subscribe to updates, we store your email only for that purpose and you can unsubscribe at any time with one email.
