Everything you need to hold the past

hiBar combines a shared timeline, source-tracing, community scoring and mapping into a single tool for exploring — and building — the record of human history.

Global timeline

One canvas for all of history

Every published fact from every contributor lives on a single, continuous canvas — a 2-D grid where the vertical axis is time and the horizontal axis is geography: regions laid out like a flattened map, so neighbouring columns are real geographic neighbours. Pan from prehistory to this morning, slide sideways from Iceland to Greece.

  • Fluid pan & zoom across 5,000+ years — and across the whole map
  • Zoom refines both axes: decades → single days, continents → countries → regions → cities
  • A fact is a segment — a span of time × a span of place (Point A → Point B), so events stack like they did in reality
  • Isolate any node to see its versions and references

The core

Six things that make hiBar different

Shared stream

Contributions from everyone converge on one timeline. Write in any language — Microsoft Azure translation renders every fact instantly in the language your app is set to.

Referenced facts

Build a claim on top of others and keep the citation chain intact and traceable.

Community scoring

Votes and evidence give every fact a live score — cross-checked core by core, so half-truths get flagged and strong claims rise.

Real coordinates

Attach a precise latitude and longitude to any event — and watch the map redraw in real time as votes come in.

Projects

Assemble events into narratives — public or private, in folders — and publish when ready.

Private layer

Your own notes as nodes over the global map — cloud-synced and visible only to you.

Trust, in the open

Scoring you can actually see

Instead of a single editor deciding what's true, hiBar lets the community weigh in. Each fact carries a transparent score shaped by sources and votes — so you always know how well-supported a claim is.

  • Live scores update as evidence and votes arrive
  • Competing versions of an event can co-exist and compete
  • Corrections notify the original author automatically
How it actually works

The life of a node

A node is your project: a piece of history you build, sign and publish. Here is its journey from your desk to the world's shared record.

Build your project

Create a node and fill it with data: events, dates, real coordinates, sources. Work in one discipline (core) or across several — a node can hold annotations from Warfare, Politics, Economy and more at once.

Publish & sign it

When you publish, you become the node's signer — your name stands behind it. Others who contribute corrections and additions become subsigners, each backing the part they touched.

Every annotation is voted

The community can validate or contest each annotation individually. Nothing is accepted on authority: every single claim carries its own live score, vote by vote.

Dominant vs. alternative

On Global — the space everyone shares — only the dominant version of each event is shown. Alternative versions with lower scores stay masked, competing quietly in the background (up to 30 per slot).

Truth can flip

If an alternative gathers evidence and votes and its score overtakes the dominant one, it becomes dominant — and the record everyone sees updates. History stays correctable, forever.

Contributions pay dividends

Writing, validating and sourcing annotations earns you monthly dividends. If someone builds on your published node, a quarter of its reference dividends flows back to you, the original author.

Reputation, earned

Your score, your weight, your tier

Dividends feed your hiBar Score, and your score makes your word count for more — especially inside the disciplines you've proven yourself in.

A heavier vote

Your vote's weight grows with your score, and each tier adds a bonus on top — +25% at Tier 1, up to +100% at Tier 4. A specialist's word in their own core simply weighs more. On your own node, your vote counts ×5 — you defend what you signed.

Four tiers to climb

Tier 1 at 250k, Tier 2 at 500k, Tier 3 at 750k, Tier 4 at 1M points. The higher you climb, the slower raw points accumulate — climbing is meant to be earned, not farmed. From Tier 1 you unlock hot topics: validating contested subjects and voting on the historic names of cities.

Scores go down too

Scores fall at the level of the work, not the person: each annotation's score is the weighted sum of validations minus contests, and a node's score is the total of its dominant annotations. A contested annotation sinks — and it drags the node it belongs to down with it. Accuracy is the only lasting strategy.

Today's events, checked

A filter against fake news

History doesn't stop at the past — current events and news are recorded on the same timeline, and put through the same machinery: sources, votes, competing versions.

  • Regional confirmation — someone actually in the region can confirm whether an event really happened where and when it's claimed
  • News faces the vote — every report competes on evidence; unsupported claims sink, sourced ones rise
  • False stories get flushed out — hiBar puts enormous weight on surfacing and burying fake news; a masked, low-scored version is a story that failed its fact-check in public
  • The result: a live, community-audited record where today's news is held to the same standard as the fall of Rome

Not just the past

Built for today’s investigations too

The timeline doesn’t stop at history books — it ends this morning. Pin breaking news, official statements and field reports to the exact hour and place they happened, and let the community test them like any other fact.

Behind it sits hiBar’s truth engine: 13 semantic cores that cross-check every claim like a puzzle piece. If every edge fits its neighbours — dates, places, causes, consequences — it clicks into the record. If one edge doesn’t, it’s flagged as a half-truth until the evidence agrees.

  • Follow unfolding events claim by claim, hour by hour
  • The live map redraws as votes shift borders and claims
  • Conflicting versions fork and compete — the record keeps the winner

Questions

Frequently asked

How does the 14-day trial work?

Every new account starts with a full-featured 14-day trial — the whole timeline, projects and your private layer. You pay nothing during the trial; pick a plan when it ends to keep contributing.

Who decides what's true?

Everyone. Facts earn a community score based on sources and votes. There's no single gatekeeper — evidence does the work.

Is hiBar only about the past?

No — the timeline ends this morning. Breaking news, live events and ongoing investigations sit on the same canvas, checked by the same cores and votes as any historical fact, with a map that updates in real time.

Why should I be the first to post an event?

Because the score rewards it. The first fast, truthful, well-sourced version of an event starts collecting votes and references immediately — and every later version has to outscore it. Being first with the truth builds your reputation and anchors the record.

Can I keep my work private?

Absolutely. Projects can be private, and your personal layer of notes is visible only to you and synced to your account.

What languages does hiBar support?

All of them, effectively. People post facts in their own language, and hiBar translates them instantly — powered by Microsoft Azure — into whatever language your app is set to. A historian in Tokyo, a student in Bucharest and a researcher in Berlin read the same timeline, each in their own words.

How much does hiBar cost?

€99 per year (auto-renew) after a 14-day free trial with full access — you pay €0 during the trial. Teams can get packs of 5 or 10 seats, and classes get the student pack 30+1 (thirty student seats plus a free teacher seat) from €490/year. Licenses come as 14-character codes you redeem in the app.

What platforms does it run on?

hiBar is available for Mac today, with more platforms on the roadmap. See the download page for the latest.
